Marquette Mountain reopens slopes with man-made snow

Marquette Mountain opened up the slopes last weekend and they did so with a little bit of help from Mother Nature and a lot of human ingenuity. 

 

The company, which focuses primarily on downhill skiing, used "snow machines" to coat their hills with enough base snow to create usable slopes. The machines rely on cold weather and equipment that turns water into snow, blowing it out of the machine as it is frozen and out onto the ski hills. And the turnout wasn't anything to scoff at as residents who have been champing at the bit to get some skiing and snowboarding in flocked to the hill last weekend. 

 

Marquette Mountain, which employs quite a few seasonal employees, will also be open this coming weekend and, if the weather reports are right, they'll have a little help from Mother Nature again -- this time, though, they won't have to make their own snow as she's expected to bring her own.
