Lake Superior Community Partnership is adding a new staffer, and promoting two others.
The new face at the partnership is Denise Elizondo, a recent Northern Michigan University graduate who will be the assistant to economic development and operations.
She has a bachelor's degree in marketing and participated in the Student Leader Fellowship Program at NMU, and has worked for the SPCA of Dallas, Texas, and the Crayon Club in Marquette.
The two LSCP staffers receiving promotions are Derek Bush and Caralee Swanberg.
"I am pleased to welcome Denise to our economic development team and to recognize new responsibilities for Caralee and Derek," says Lois Ellis, VP of economic development. "The LSCP is fortunate to have a well-rounded, professional team that can assist all types of businesses with opportunities for expansion, addressing barriers to business growth and connecting companies to appropriate resources to serve their needs."
Bush will now be a business development representative, working with Marquette County businesses to help them with development challenges and opportunities.
He joined the partnership in 2011 as the regional economic development liaison, connecting U.P. economic development organizations to state tools and resources. He also is an NMU graduate with a bachelor's degree in economics.
Swanberg's new title is business development manager. She will manage the LSCP's business retention program and provide direct assistance to companies.
She is an NMU graduate with a bachelor's in public relations, and joined the LSCP in 2010 as a business development specialist, previously working in private development. Swanberg also has received training from the Edward Lowe Foundation in economic gardening methods to help growing companies.
