Marquette's newest hotel has named a hospitality veteran to the position of general manager.
The Hampton Inn of Marquette, which is being constructed on the Lake Superior shoreline near Founders Landing, recently named Reed Benton the GM of the property. The location is scheduled to be open and fully operational in time for the summer tourist season.
Benton is no stranger to Marquette or hotel management. The new general manager is a 2004 graduate of Marquette Senior High School and attended Northern Michigan University before transferring to Eastern Michigan University and obtaining a bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management in 2008.
Benton has been in the Hilton franchise for several years and previous to his new position with Marquette's Hampton Inn he was the assistant general manager at the Holton Garden Inn in Plymouth, located in Metro Detroit.
