Marquette is among several Michigan cities getting the chance to talk historic preservation and how it relates to the future of the state, in an upcoming workshop led by the
State Historic Preservation Office.
The office, which is part of the
Michigan State Housing Development Authority, is holding the workshops as part of the state’s five-year historic preservation plan.
It takes place Sept. 22 at the
Landmark Inn in Marquette, itself a renovated historic building. It’s free and open to the public, and registration is required
online.
"The public will have an opportunity to meet with other people interested in preserving our history and discuss the future of historic preservation in this state," says State Historic Preservation Officer Brian Conway.
The workshop focuses on sharing visions for historic preservation, discussing threats and opportunities, and setting the direction for the state’s historic preservation activities over the next five years.
Other workshops were held in Midland, Traverse City, Detroit and Kalamazoo.
