GoTech hires Derrick Smith

A new computer support company in the western Upper Peninsula has announced a new hiring already.

Go Tech, owned by Chris Gotstein and located in Norway, Michigan, announced it has hired Derrick Smith as a technician to help serve its customers.

Smith is a recent graduate of Michigan Technological University in Houghton and will be Go Tech's lead technician. He's a native of Kingsford, having graduated from Kingsford High School in 2007. He earned a degree in computer network and system administration, and worked as a computer technican and system administrator for Michigan Tech while a student there.

"We are very excited to welcome Derrick to our team at GoTech. He brings a wealth of technical knowledge, as well as being very customer oriented," Gotstein says.

The company offers IT consulting, networking, computer repair and sales for homes, businesses, schools and governments.

It opened its doors in April and already has added mobile device repair like iPhones, iPads and Androids. Go Tech is located at 611 Main Street in Norway and has newly expanded its hours. It's now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
