If there's one thing that most of us can agree on, it's that food that is grown in the Upper Peninsula is best when it comes to our own tables and our local restaurants.
What else most of us can agree on is that sustainability is key when it comes to the future of the environment.
What many of us probably didn't know is that the local food movement and environmental sustainability go together like a cold beer on a perfect summer evening--just ask the folks at the Michigan Environmental Council, which will be hosting a Forward Drinking Discussion with local food panelists from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at L'Attitude.
The event will pair great local drinks with a lively discussion about the intersection of environmental ethics and strong local food systems.
"Good Food: Local Food"--the fifth event in the #ForwardDrinking Discussion Series--will have an informal panel discussion with local experts to highlight the people and ideas that are making Marquette a leader in the good food movement. And there will be plenty of time for your questions and ideas.
Panelists will include Natasha Lantz (Community Liaison at the
Marquette Food Co-op), Matt Gougeon (General Manager at the Marquette Food Co-op), Ursula Stock (Owner of
Sweetwater Cafe) and Rowan Bunce (Farmer at Rock River Farm).
The event is free and open to the public and the Michigan Environmental Council will even provide free appetizers.
