First Bank Upper Michigan has a new president and CEO, Randall Peterson.
Peterson brings more than 35 years of banking management experience to the job, including regional and community banks, retail and commercial lending and operations.
He previously was executive VP and senior lender at Investors Community Bank in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and also has been regional chairman at Citizens Republic Bank for Wisconsin and surrounding states, and executive VP of Citizens Republic Corporation.
"Having grown up in lower Michigan, I am delighted to be back in the Wolverine State, particularly in the wonderful Upper Peninsula. I'm excited to be joining First Bank, Upper Michigan and proud to be part of the outstanding First Bank team," says Peterson.
He also worked for 20 years at Associated Bank in Green Bay, rising to the position of president and CEO there. He has been VP at Old Kent Bank in Grand Rapids and first started his career in banking at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago.
Peterson is a Vietnam War veteran and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard. He completed an undergraduate degree at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and earned an MBA at the University of Michigan.
First Bank, which has offices in Gladstone, Escanaba and Garden, is coming up on its hundredth anniversary and received the Shining Star Award for community service in 2011 from the Michigan Community Bankers. It offers full services including trusts and investments.
