NMU Fall Fest 2011 currently seeking vendors

If you're in the kind of business where introducing yourself to this year's crop of both new and returning Northern Michigan University students would be helpful, the college is seeking vendors and booths for its annual Fall Fest, which welcomes students back to campus each fall.

In cooperation with the Lake Superior Community Partnership, NMU's Center for Student Enrichment will host the 2011 Fall Fest from 11 a.m, to 3 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29. (There's a rain date on Aug. 30, too.)

Non-university vendors are welcome with a small fee; that's $50 for partnership members and $65 for non-members. Lindsay Hemmila of the LSCP says it's worth it.

"Fall Fest has proven itself to be a highly effective promotional event," says Hemmila. "The merchants that take advantage of this opportunity to hand out coupons, and talk with the university population, find they reap the rewards throughout the school year."

Typically, more than 50 merchants, businesses and student organizations attend the event, which takes place on the first day of classes at NMU, in the academic mall between the Learning Resource Center, Jamrich Hall and the Science Facility. The registration deadline is Aug. 22, and can be done through the partnership.
