Two U.P. companies land on "50 Companies to Watch" list

Two Upper Peninsula companies have landed themselves on the "50 Companies to Watch" list, which is assembled and presented annually by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

Marquette-based 906 Technologies and Menominee's Northern Fab & Machine LLC were both included on the list this year.

906 Technologies, which is owned by Lee Francisco, was founded in 2005 and currently has 25 full-time employees working in its office. The company expects to expand to 30 full-time workers in 2014 to help meet the rising demands of its growing clientele.

Northern Fab & Machine operates under company president Daniel Drifka and was founded in 2000. the company currently boasts 15 full-time workers with an expected expansion to 17 in the near future.

In 2012, the entirety of the 50 companies list generated $333 million in total revenue--an increase, collectively, of 29.1 percent from the year before. The 50 companies also have 1,448 current full-time workers between them and expect to create 360 new jobs this year alone.
