There's a new bachelor's degree available to Michigan Tech students who want to study the business aspects of engineering.
The
Michigan Technological University Board of Control approved a bachelor of science degree in engineering management, which will fall under the college's school of business and economics. It will help fill a growing need in industry for managers who have strong skills in both business and engineering, says university provost Max Seel.
"Michigan Tech has long been committed to delivering a distinctive and rigorous discovery-based learning experience grounded in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM," says Seel. "Combine that with hands-on experience in business, and you have just what students will need to prosper in the new economy."
The degree includes courses in engineering, math and science, as well as a full business curriculum. It will push students to develop a strategic business perspective on engineering, along with the ability to link their technical engineering skills to business development through senior capstone courses.
