When the snow decides to stick around, that's when many Yoopers allow themselves to start using the word "winter." Until then, it just doesn't seem right to some.
Upper Peninsula Second Wave managing photographer Shawn Malone was out and about the day the snow came and stuck around. She snapped this beautiful photo overlooking the Dead River in Marquette County snowcasing the beginning of our winter landscape.
It isn't a lot of snow, but that's just fine with us. We know that the rest of winter is coming and that there will be plenty of flakes accumulating for us to enjoy.
