Wicked Mitten offering up new apparel choices

A new apparel company with an edge is open in the U.P. Called Wicked Mitten, the business specializes in Michigan-themed clothing for both men and women, but with a fun aesthetic.

Owner Lesley Crisp also operates the business, with some help from family and friends. The shirts and accessories she's designed all center on the mitten shape of the state of Michigan, or relate to it in some way.

The name came from Crisp's husband, who suggested it because "wicked" can have more than one meaning, like sinister or cool, she says.

While Wicked Mitten apparel was in several stores on a seasonal basis last summer, for the winter, online ordering has been the main option. That's about to change, however, says Crisp.

"In the very near future our clothing will be available at our first year round store located at LoyalTees in the Masonic Square on Washington Street in Marquette," she says.

Expect more expansion in the future, as Wicked Mitten also has partnered with local photography company Richer Image to create model photos for the clothing, and is hiring local models as well.

"We are hoping to expand and create jobs and opportunity for several Michiganders," says Crisp.
