V.I.O. announces new POV.HD wearable camera capable of filming in 1080p

Marquette-based V.I.O. wants you know that not all high definition equipment is created equal. That's why they are confident that even with an influx of HD wearable cameras entering the marketplace, the world of point-of-view video is still ready to eagerly accept the POV.HD.

V.I.O. has long been committed to developing professional grade POV camera systems, while keeping their designs small and wearable. With their unique, signature style, V.I.O. also incorporates incredible durability into their cameras, making them ideal for a wide use of applications. The POV.HD is no different, providing their same original concepts, while adding the very welcome HD video quality at 1080p that is capable of a range of settings, down to 720p to 480SD.

"The POV.HD not only delivers advanced HD video, but also provides a host of unique recording and exposure options designed for the discriminating video enthusiast," says Clint Slack, Marketing Director at V.I.O.

Those discriminating enthusiasts must include Todd Jones, the founder of action-sports film company Teton Gravity Research.

"Thanks to the exceptionally small size, bombproof nature and production-grade video quality of V.I.O.'s cameras, we've been able to capture unique and beautiful shots of our athletes in extreme situations that otherwise would have been unattainable," notes Jones.

The new camera has the capability to capture up to five hours of 1080p video and is equipped with a super wide-angle lens. The POV.HD is also built as two separate pieces, which reduces camera vibration because the recording unit is mounted on your body. Additionally, the POV.HD is dust proof, shock proof and can handle up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes.
