The English have always touted tea time as a must-have part of the day, and Maryhanna Ockerman thinks they may be on to something.
That's exactly why Ockerman decided to start her own business out of her home in Ishpeming--Hanna's Tea Times.
The business, which started in September 2011 when Ockerman took her passion to a local craft show, was created to help people make time for tea.
"So people can take a break in their hectic lives to stop and relax with friends and family over a pot of tea, some fine china, real linen table cloths and finer ambience," says Ockerman.
Ockerman says her business, which she hopes to eventually bring to a storefront, also allows her to spread the word about tea's health benefits, history, tradition and more.
Her tea company offers in-home sales tea parties (think Tupperware, but tastier) with Ockerman's own high-quality loose tea, accouterments and tea party tables. She also caters tea parties for social gatherings such as bridal showers, baby showers, book clubs, etc. What's more is that she sells her teas and items on
her website.
"I spent five years selecting the team that I sell to the public," says Ockerman. "It is ranked in the top 10-percent highest-quality tea in the world. So I can faithfully stand behind my product."
