Systems Control in Iron Mountain just finished announcing they were expanding in the U.P. with the addition of a new Houghton office.
Now the manufacturing and engineering firm is breaking ground on a new expansion at its headquarters in Iron Mountain, to increase the space available for its manufacturing floor.
Ground-breaking on the new 70,000-square-foot addition started this month and once it's done, it will allow Systems Control to build more equipment enclosures, one of the company's products that is seeing good growth in sales currently.
It's the second Iron Mountain expansion in three years for the growing company, which projects to add 65 more employees in 2016 with the new expansion in place. In the next five years, Systems Control says it'll hire more than 500 new workers to keep up the pace.
To support all that growth, the Iron Mountain City Council approved an industrial tax exemption to Systems Control on the new expansion, in the neighborhood of $5.8 million.
