Looking for a way to spice up your next culinary masterpiece but you're tired of the same old selection at the local grocery stores? Head over to Ishpeming and stop at
Spicy Jo's, a "little shop of flavors where bland is banned."
The new business, which is owned and operated by JoAnn Poppe, has a variety of olive oils, spice blends, balsamic vinegar, sauces and marinades for you to purchase. There are more than 20 different extra virgin olive oils, pasta and coffee flavorings and gift baskets for the cook who has everything.
"I used to purchase all of these products out-of-town," says Poppe. "I love to cook, and I know I'm not the only one. I wanted to bring these products to our local area."
Spicy Jo's is located right next to Smokehouse
Glenn's Northern Meats in the
Country Village in Ishpeming.
"The two businesses complement each other well," says Poppe. "I have customers that come in for spices, and I send them over to Northern Meats, and vice versa."
The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
