Pioneer Surgical acquires new spine product

Hot on the heels of Pioneer Surgical Technology's announcement of a new plant to be built in Ireland, the company has quieter, but no less vital, news as well.

It's signed an agreement with SpineSmith, LP, for the rights to manufacture and distribute a new medical implant called Cequence. The product is a cervical spine plate system noted for its simplicity and reliability.

Pioneer has been looking ahead to adding more spine products, and recently expanded its Marquette manufacturing facility to accommodate future acquisitions like Cequence.

"We are very excited about the opportunity that this product represents to Pioneer," says Jeff Millin, Pioneer's CEO. "Cequence will play an immediate and strategic role in our efforts to expand our portfolio of spine products, providing greater service to our existing and future customers."

SpineSmith will continue to distribute the product, which also now will be available through Pioneer's other distributors. The Austin, Texas company focuses on design and development of spine implants.
