Pink Sugar expands, grows into new location

Pink Sugar Co. just opened this year in Escanaba, but the boutique store is already expanding to a bigger location.

It's not going too far, though. Originally, the popular clothing store owned by Rachel Miron was in the middle suite of the Lofts on Ludington building downtown. It is moving over to a larger suite in the building, at the east end.

"I love having my store at The Lofts on Ludington in downtown Escanaba; because I feel downtown is growing and developing in so many ways. Not only are you shopping local when you shop Pink Sugar Co. but you are shopping 'double local.' Over half of my store is stocked with unique items made and purchased from local artists and crafters," says Miron.

Miron says the change will enable her to meet customer demands better, expanding her size offerings and adding more child and baby clothes, too.

"So many women were asking me to carry more items and more sizes. Moving to the east suite at The Lofts on Ludington is so exciting, because I'm now able to offer extended women's sizes and more clothing for babies and children--boys and girls," she says.

Pink Sugar Co. carries women's and children's clothing, handbags, jewelry, and vintage-inspired gifts. It first opened in April of 2012 and has since partnered with OSF St. Francis Hospital and Medical Group to help local infants and families in need with items like hats, mittens and clothing. Customers can purchase the items at a discounted price and have them gift-wrapped and donated to the hospital, where they will be given to area families.

Miron, a Cornell resident, says when she and husband Andy had their first baby, the Sisters of St. Francis gave them hand-knit baby items, which they were so grateful for, and she was looking for a way to pay the generosity forward.
