Marinette Marine breaks ground for new facility to enhance Littoral Combat Ship program

The latest product from Marquette-based Pioneer Surgical Technology is on the market, and available to physicians performing spinal procedures.

Pioneer announced the full-market release of its Streamline TL Spinal Fixation System. The "TL" in the name stands for thoracolumbar, and the product provides stability during spinal fusion procedures. It's also approved as a pedicle screw system for certain parts of the spine.

The Streamline TL was cleared by the FDA in August 2010, and went through a clinical evaluation phase before the current full market availability.

The system works with a wide range of implants and instruments, so that doctors are not limited in their treatment choices and can choose the right treatment for each patient. Some of the innovations in the Streamline TL system are greater control during implant procedures, and a consistent locking mechanism.

Jay Jones, VP of research and development in Pioneer Surgical's spine division, says the system makes a real stride forward for the company, and looks to be a flagship spine product for the company in 2011.

"Streamline TL is one of the most significant product introductions to Pioneer Surgical's portfolio in recent history," says Jones, adding the system is part of Pioneer's commitment to creating the best solutions for doctors and patients.

Pioneer, founded in Marquette in 1992, employs more than 260 people worldwide in its orthopedic, spine and biologics divisions.
