Midwest Living names Houghton's Vault Hotel as one of Michigan’s Top Romantic Getaways

What's happening: Midwest Living has named The Vault Hotel in Houghton as one of Michigan’s top romantic destinations.  The roundup of romantic getaways cites The Vault Hotel for its themed floors, historic past as a bank and its “secret basement bar” – The Counting Room.

About The Vault:
The 17-room Vault opened in 2019, after 11 months of renovation, a complete gutting and remodel of the former Houghton National Bank. The Romanesque-style structure was built in 1889. In the building’s transformation into a hotel, many original bank elements were reused, including teller windows, bank boxes, and even a vault. The Vault Hotel has also been recognized more than once by the Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards.

What they're saying: “This accolade is a testament not only to our dedicated team but also the vibrant and welcoming community of Houghton," said Jen Julien, Owner of The Vault Hotel. "Our town’s rich history and charm create an inviting place that enhances the experience of every guest. We are proud to contribute to and share in the unique allure that makes Houghton a special destination for couples seeking a memorable retreat.”
