Assisted living is a booming business, especially with the number of elderly residents continuing to grow throughout the United States.
McKinley Manor in Sault Ste. Marie opened recently to help address that need, and the response has been a favorable one for the facility. More than half of McKinley Manor's 40 rooms have already been filled.
"I think one of the reasons we're so popular is the number of different amenities we offer," says Corinne Brooks, the manor's office manager. "We also have a great, dedicated staff and an excellent cook who has been getting rave reviews."
The dining options at McKinley include snacks at anytime, as well as three scheduled meals and fresh baked bread each day. Other amenities include an on-site hair salon, a library, a coffee shop, an exercise room and an in-house movie theater.
Married elderly couples are also encouraged to apply to live at the facility, which allows them to live together in the same unit.
There are two different programs offered for residents, with varying costs. The first is the
Assisted Living Program, which starts at approximately $2,700 and the
Assisted Living Program Plus, which doesn't have a published starting cost.
"It is a beautiful atmosphere," says Brooks, who added that there is also a flower garden with a fountain on the premises. "It really is a warm and pleasant environment."
