Marquette Tweet-UP announced for Oct. 23: speakers include Marquette Social, Landmark Inn, NMU

Social media will be invading Marquette both physically and virtually when MarqiTAC comes to the Masonic Building Oct. 23.

The Tweet-UP, which is the second in the Upper Peninsula by the Twitter Action Corps after a very successful MackiTAC last month on Mackinac Island, will feature a variety of speakers, including those from Northern Michigan University as well as the highly-respected Landmark Inn.

"This is a great opportunity for the online community to meet the actual faces behind the social networking accounts," said Jason Edward White, the owner and operator of Marquette Social and the newly-launched Mackinac Social. "This isn't going to be the kind of conference where people just sit around, either. We're there to have fun, exchange ideas and hear everyone's opinions and thoughts."

Those attending the conference will hear speakers from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Speakers, at this point, include: Ken Grisnak (Twitter Action Corps), Misty Martincheck (Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry), Christine Howell-Pentecoste (ZattaChat), Joni Hulbren-Golden (Michigan Women's Forum), Allan Coyle, Bruce Serven, Jason Edward White, Michelle Cook (Landmark Inn) and Ann Stark (Northern Michigan University).

Refreshments will be served and there is no cost to attend.

For those interested in the Tweet-UP but cannot attend, the Marquette Social homepage will be a full-interactive host of the event, including streaming live video, Twitter feeds and group video chat.
