Lake Superior State University to open regional center in Dearborn

Lake Superior State University has established a regional site in partnership with Henry Ford Community College at the Dearborn University Consortium Center located on the campus of Advanced Technology Academy.

LSSU will offer degree completion options in business and criminal justice beginning this fall. Future degree completion offerings could include Applied Geographic Information Systems, Computer Networking and Web Development in 2011.

A signing ceremony for the HFCC-LSSU articulation agreement is set for July 28 in Dearborn. A ribbon cutting at the location is set for late August.

"The establishment of the center gives us a presence in the Metro Detroit area," says LSSU President Tony McLain. "It also allows us to bring our high-value educational programs to students who never before had access to LSSU. We're very pleased to be part of this partnership."

LSSU Board of Trustees Chair W.W. "Frenchie" LaJoie agrees.

"We've spent a lot of time on this agreement and in establishing this site, which will be very favorable for Lake Superior State and our students," he says.
