A new technology business celebrated their opening with a ribbon cutting in Marquette June 24, as
Pulsar Backup LLC opened its doors.
The company was formed after taking second in
Northern Michigan University's "New Business Venture" competition in April, says CEO Joshua Petrovich. The prize money was worth $2,500.
"Using award money from the competition, I started the company with the support of faculty within the NMU College of Business. Pulsar Backup is one of the first companies to be part of NMU's business incubator, which provides us with several benefits as we grow as a company," he says.
The ribbon cutting was held at the Jacobetti Center on NMU's campus, and was attended by several NMU and economic development officials.
Pulsar is an online backup company, allowing customers to automatically back up files on their computers to a secure, remote storage location. The back up method offers protection against loss or damage of computer files due to computer failure.
Check Pulsar's website for a grand opening sale: a special offer code when ordering will take 10 percent off the monthly bill.
And Petrovich says the company is committed to building a future in Marquette, with local hires and plans to contribute to the community.
"There's a need for Marquette and the U.P. at large to be home to technology businesses. There are many excellent universities and colleges in the U.P., but sadly many graduates leave the area in search of employment," he says. "It's my goal to hire locally and also give back locally."
