Lasalletech announces a new, free mobile dictionary for the FIX community

It looks like folks who belong to the FIX community will have another resource if they carry around an Apple iPhone.

Lasalletech, based in Hancock, announced that is has developed the FIX Explorer Mobile app for iPhone users. The FIX Explorer is a dictionary that supports all versions of FIX, or Financial Information eXchange, and includes a glossary, message definitions and enumerations of those fields. The app allows users to quickly search through all versions of FIX for any field, component or message using a variety of search parameters.

"It is a nifty little app that allows me to do quick loo-ups by FIX version tag, component and message type," says Clife Browning, from Rapid Addition Ltd., who has been using the app since it first launched. "(It is) very useful for when (I'm) on the road and I don't have direct access to FIXimate."

Craig Otis, who designed the app, says he created it to give users the mobility of a FIX dictionary, something that wasn't available to iPhone users previously.

"In an increasingly fast-paced industry, having immediate and portable access to specification messages and fields is an extremely valuable tool," he says. "FIX Explorer Mobile is the perfect tool for anyone who needs access to the FIX Specification messages while on-the-go."

iPhone users can download the app for free from the Apple App Store or directly from the Lasalletech website.
