What's happening: The Keweenaw Community Foundation recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special event at The Bonfire Restaurant in Houghton. The milestone event brought together community members, donors and supporters. A silent auction was the evening's highlight, with many curated packages featuring services and activities from Keweenaw businesses and organizations.
About the foundation: The foundation’s purpose is to support a thriving community through collaboratively matching community needs with resources to improve quality of life. The Keweenaw foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula, a registered non-profit charitable organization. Since 1994 the Foundation has served thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations throughout Houghton and Keweenaw counties.
What they're saying: "I am deeply moved by the incredible support from our community in celebration (the foundation's) 30th anniversary," said Robin Meneguzzo, the foundation's executive director. "Together, we are building a community that values and supports each other, and it's truly inspiring."
What's next: The foundation moved into new space in Hancock over the summer. Currently, the foundation is conducting a
Community Impact Survey to "better understand the needs, priorities, and challenges of our residents." A summary of the survey results will be shared on its
website and in the community in early 2025.
