EMS company Integrated First Response--Great Lakes is expanding.
The Kingsford-based company has opened a new facility in Iron Mountain, and will be providing ambulance service in the area around the clock, in partnership with Med-Star Ambulance.
Other additions are in the future, like CPR and first aid training for the public, and 911 services in Iron Mountain and Kingsford.
Integrated First Response--Great Lakes provides an entire emergency services picture, from the 911 call all the way through air ambulance transport if needed. As of 2012, IFR-GL has operated the first critical care fixed-wing air ambulance service in the U.P. from Ford Airport, in cooperation with Valley Med Flight.
It also designs, finances, implements and manages EMS solutions for rural and community agencies and hospitals with the aim of improving rural critical care.
The facility is located at 719 River Avenue and began operation in August.
