Who wants a trip to Mackinac Island on an Arnold Line ferry?
What's happening: The Hoffman Family of Companies is the new owner of the East Dock on Mackinac Island. Known as the island’s premier private dock for private mariners, East Dock provides a number of amenities and functions for vessels of any shape and size, increasing the attractiveness of Mackinac Island to tourists, businesspeople and Great Lakes mariners. The East Dock will fall under the Hoffman Marine section of the business portfolio and increases the company’s overall fleet to 46 vessels across seven states with 15 separate docks.
Hoffman footprint on the island: Based in Florida, the Hoffman Family of Companies has an increasing involvement in the ebb and flow of transit from one of Michigan’s most recognizable locations. After purchasing both public ferry lines -- in Star Line and Shepler’s Ferry -- in 2024, the company consolidated water-based travel to the island. Because the East Dock is a private location, Hoffman will have more control over prices and availability of amenities compared to its public ferry options.
What they're saying: “We are thrilled to add the East Dock as our newest acquisition in Michigan. We look forward to continuing the dock’s legacy of providing first-class service and facilities to guests for years to come,” said Jenny Gezella, president of Hoffmann Marine. “Adding the East Dock to our portfolio continues to show the Hoffmann Family’s investment in Mackinac Island.”
What's next: Hoffman confirmed that the East Dock will be managed by Arnold Transit Company CEO Veronica Dobrowolski. “I’m thrilled to support the Hoffmann's in expanding their marine presence on Mackinac and look forward to continuing to welcome guests to this stunning island,” Dobrowolski said.
