Fly fishing business has new location, partner

After years of operating out of a garage, Caddis Shack Fly Fishing has moved to a new location in Escanaba.

The company, which was established in 2007 by Chris and Danielle Gestwicki, is now located at 1006 Ludington Street in Escanaba. The storefront will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Gestwickis started the business when Chris "saw a need to provide quality fly fishing equipment to the area" and because there were no other fly-fishing-exclusive shops in the entire Upper Peninsula.

The company has made more changes than just a new location, too, as the Gestwickis have added Will Hurdman, who resides in Gwinn, as a partner in the business.

Between Hurdmand and Chris Gestwicki, they combine for more than 20 years of fly fishing experience.

Some of the products that are available at the shop include those developed by Sage, R.L. Winston, Smith Optics and Waterworks, Umpqua and Smith and Redington.
