ControlTec opens satellite office in Keweenaw

A new addition to the Houghton area's tech industry is Allen Park-based ControlTec, which has just opened a satellite office in the MTEC SmartZone's Lakeshore Center business incubator.

ControlTec provides information technology and telematics for vehicle manufacturers in the testing phase of new vehicles, and works with many major U.S. auto manufacturers.

It started out by hiring four Michigan Tech students locally and intends to add more as it expands with the help of the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance and the SmartZone.

"MTEC SmartZone provides a great location and access to top talent at Michigan Tech," says ControlTec VP Bill Leisenring, a Michigan Tech alumnus. "This new office strengthens our ability to grow, and helps us to continue to exceed the expectations of our expanding customer base."

Part of the draw to the Houghton SmartZone was the other major companies located there, like Ford Motors, GE Aviation and Dematic.
