Downstate chain Biggby Coffee will be opening a location in Marquette.
The Biggby Coffee of Marquette
Facebook page proclaims that the franchise, new to Marquette, will be opening a location at 3165 Wright Street, part of the WJMN-TV Plaza.
It's in the former location of the Safety Store in Marquette, and will be remodeled to suit the new coffee shop.
Other tenants in the plaza, located at the corner of Wright Street and U.S. 41, are Arby's, WJMN-TV, and the U.P. Hair Co. The development is owned by Veridea Group and first opened in 2012. It was renamed WJMN-TV Plaza in 2014 after the TV station moved in; it was previously called West Towne Plaza for its location west of Marquette in Marquette Township.
Biggby serves up a wide array of coffee drinks (of course), and also offers smoothies, baked goods, and bagel sandwiches. A similar new Biggby's opened in 2013 in Sault Ste. Marie as the company has pushed to expand in its home state of Michigan.
