Ever visit a state park and wish that you had Internet access so you could check your email? Yeah, neither have we. But, the Department of Natural Resources obviously has, and they have foreseen a need of that kind of service for the visitors of the Baraga State Park.
To meet that need, the park is now covered with a free wireless Internet signal.
The wireless Internet is available to campers from the comfort of their own campsite and is provided through the support of the Baraga Friends of the Park non-profit group and the Baraga Telephone Company.
"The ability to connect wirelessly to the Internet is just another amenity that makes Baraga State Park such an attractive place to camp," says DNR park supervisor Dan Dowdy. "Park visitors will now be able to stay in touch with friends or even work remotely from their campsite."

A recreation passport from the State of Michigan, which has replaced the old motor vehicle permits for entry into state parks, recreation areas and state-administered boat launch fee sites, is required. For more information about the passport, visit
