A long-established Upper Peninsula business is joining forces with one that's brand new to the area. Household Appliance of Marquette and Ishpeming has signed an agreement with Michigan-based furniture retailer
Art Van Furniture to create Art Van Furniture & Household Appliance.
The new store is a franchise and will be located in Marquette, in the former American TV and Appliance building on U.S. 41. The 50,000-square-foot space will offer furniture, appliances, electronics and flooring, and create 15 new jobs, according to an announcement from Art Van.
Household Appliance is co-owned by Steven Anderson and Jeff Palomaki, both second-generation furniture retailers.
"Our family has been in the retail business in the Marquette area since 1971. We know our customers and interact with them regularly in the store and around town," says Anderson. "This extraordinary opportunity to partner with the largest furniture retailer in the Midwest will help us enhance customer service and the selection of merchandise available to families in our community."
The store is scheduled to open in November and is the first Art Van venture in the Upper Peninsula; the retailer has 35 stores across the Midwest.
