There have been a couple posts in our series on area homes priced under $100,000, but each have focused on Port Huron. What about our neighbors to the north, west, and south? The Keel’s reach extends deep into St. Clair County, after all.
With that in mind, let’s take a peek and see what’s happening at homes listed throughout the county.
520 Summer Street (Algonac): $99,900
This large ranch built in 1944 was remodeled in 2003 and has dropped nearly $20K since first being listed in April 2018. Squeaking in just beneath our $100K marker, this open-concept ranch has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a large "entertaining" garage. The backyard is already decked out with a brick grill and hearth, and even an old-fashioned tire swing. Just two blocks from Algonac Waterfront Park and the St. Clair River!

4440 Fairway Drive (Fort Gratiot): $94,900
This home is located in Ft. Gratiot. This blue beauty doesn’t offer much in the way of photos, but from what is available, the place looks like it’s in pretty decent shape. Stretch out a bit on your half acre plot of land, or go for a walk: Within minutes of your front door is the Port Huron Golf Club, Vinomondo Winery, and the shore of Lake Huron. Or get your shopping on at the Birchwood Mall, located just around the corner.

701 Saint Paul Street (Marysville): $75,900
This Marysville home is waiting for a new family.Another affordable ranch-style home located just blocks from the water front, it’s one of the advantages to searching for a home in St. Clair County. Built in 1940, this three bedroom home could appeal to fixer-uppers or vintage-minded fans of that super retro wood paneling throughout. Nearby points of interest include classic hamburgers from the Lynwood Bar, locally brewed hops from Harsens Island Brewery, and patio-seated river views from Junction Buoy. Families take note: 701 Saint Paul Street is located just blocks from the elementary school, high school, and public library.

5239 Gratiot Avenue (Saint Clair Township): $60,000
A little TLC can make this house a home again. This one’s a little further from the waterfront than those previously listed, but this is St. Clair County, so it’s all pretty relative. Photos reveal that this house is an indubitable fixer-upper, but one that’s worth the work. The bones are there and this two bedroom ranch sits on an eight acre lot surrounded by tall trees. Get away from the hubbub and enjoy the peace and quiet of living out in the township, yet just minutes away from I-94 and a Meijer superstore.

438 South Market Street (Marine City): $38,900 This Marine City home is looking for the right investor.
In real estate, they say location is everything. So a home priced at $38,900 yet within a block of the ever-increasingly popular downtown Marine City probably won’t last on the market for too long. Yes, the exterior needs some work. But photos of the interior indicate a well-kept home painted fresh with vibrant colors. And is that a claw-foot tub we see? No doubt this one needs some work, but it also might be the best kept secret out there. What’s more is that an aluminum fishing boat and heavy duty trailer are included with purchase. Now, if we only had somewhere to keep it docked . . .
