Western Michigan University journalism student Mahari Wilson loves haunted houses and she's not afraid to be scared. So, discovering what makes for a successful haunted house was a natural choice when she was assigned a short video project in her Multimedia Journalism class. Wilson spent time at the Psycho Ward, a family-owned haunted house at 7656 Ravine Road, Kalamazoo, to interview visitors at the attraction, which is one of two listed online for the area. The other, called Nightmare Realm, starts at Paw Paw High School. Wilson also interviewed Kate Thomsen of the WMU Theatre Department about why people like to get scared.
