When Tracelynn Van and her husband Benny Doan opened the doors at Yo Go Delites on May 3, they had no idea what was in store for them. More than 2,000 customers poured in during the first two days to get their first taste at the serve-yourself yogurt shop.
"We were really surprised at the great customer response," Van says. "Now we have some customers that come in two or three times a day."
Besides Van and Doan, four other family members help in the shop, and Van hopes to add more very soon. "This is a family-owned business -- and we are both very close to them," she says. "I hope that more members of our family can join us."
Yo Go Delites’ customers fix their very own concoctions, and with more than 65 toppings to choose from, nearly anything is possible.
"We have a lot of fresh cut fruit," Van says. "Raspberries, blueberries, pineapple, mangos, bananas, strawberries and kiwi," she says, naming a number of them. "Also M&Ms, Gummy Bears, chocolate chips."
The 16 yogurt flavors change every day. Strawberry, coconut, key lime tart, vanilla, Texas peanut butter, New York cheesecake, pineapple, strawberry and vanilla are among them, along with two sugar-free flavors. And unlike some ice cream or frozen yogurt shops, customers do not have to wait for warm weather to have a place to enjoy their sweet treats.
"We have enough room for 117 people to eat inside," Van says. "And it’s very colorful, so people really like to be here."
