Lakeland Continuing Care Center goes up in Lincoln Township

Construction is under way on the new Lakeland Continuing Care Center, a 59,747-square-foot facility on an 18-acre wooded parcel in Lincoln Township. Construction of the new $10 million project is expected to take approximately one year.

In a ground breaking ceremony May 18 officials welcomed the new addition to the community. "It’s so refreshing and so enlightening to have this type of interest in our township," says Dick Stauffer, Supervisor, Lincoln Township.

The new skilled-nursing facility will be built in the Arts and Crafts style and located to take advantage of expansive ravine views on the property. Walking paths on the site will be open to residents, visitors and members of the community.

Although the new facility will be nearly 27,000 square feet larger than the current 33,000-square-foot building it will have 111 beds, the same number the current facility has.

The site also includes enough acreage for a dedicated campus for senior care at some point in the future, pending the approval of township or other governing entities.

The new facility is more than just a building, says Loren B. Hamel, MD, President and CEO of Lakeland HealthCare. "It will be a wonderful place for healing relationships, a place where we can take care of our friends and neighbors, a place where we can really honor those who are some of the most venerable within our community."
