Battle Creek Montessori Academy is moving ahead with staffing as it prepares for the 2013-2014 school year.
Battle Creek Montessori Academy is a tuition-free public school for children in grades kindergarten through eighth (if enough students enroll for each grade level). The Academy also will offer a tuition-based preschool program.
The school will be an authentic Montessori school and will have state certified teachers. If they are not already Montessori trained they will earn Montessori certification through the North American Montessori Center.
Each classroom at Battle Creek Montessori Academy will be staffed with both a state and Montessori certified lead teacher, as well as an instructional aide. Approximately 15 positions are expected to be created by the Academy in its first year. Current job postings are listed
here.
In a Montessori classroom children and teachers use special hands-on materials to customize learning activities. Children are encouraged to explore their universe, and appreciate all people, and cultures.
"The Academy celebrates a child's natural desire to learn, encourages each child move at his own pace, and embraces her unique learning style,” says Sid Faucette, Ed.D., president of MIChoice, the Academy’s Board of Directors’ management partner.
MIChoice is launching four Montessori schools across Michigan this fall, including the Battle Creek Montessori Academy.
"Battle Creek Montessori Academy," says Faucette, "will be a part of a network of schools "giving its teachers and administrators the chance to connect and grow with others committed to the Montessori philosophy, while allowing it to build the environment that’s best for the region’s students."
