A company with more than 50 years of history in South Haven has decided to expand its operation to add 25 jobs in the coming year.
Lovejoy Inc., a supplier of couplings, power transmission, hydraulic components and rubber suspension technology, will add 95,000 square feet to the 35,000 square feet it already occupies.
Current employees will start moving into a new building at 200 Lovejoy Ave. in South Haven in two weeks.
The planned building expansion and equipment is a $3 million investment for the company.
Hiring will begin in the first quarter of 2013 and the available positions will include CNC Operators and require training or experience.
Lovejoy's primary customers operate in the steel, pulp and paper, power generation, food processing, mining and construction industries. The company, which is based in Downers Grove, Ill. has been owned and operated by the same family for four generations and attributes its success, staying power, and growth to a long standing commitment to customer service and a tradition innovation.
Michigan Works provided Lovejoy executives with labor market information and a customized training plan. And Arnie Redsicker, Lovejoy’s director of business development, says the company’s confidence that it can find and train the workforce it needs in Southwest Michigan was a key factor in its decision to expand in Southwest Michigan.
