Four Winds Dowagiac sets opening date

Four Winds Dowagiac will open at noon April 30, offering 300 slot machines, four table games, and a Timbers restaurant that can seat approximately 30 people.There is also a non-smoking area with approximately 20 slot machines.
 
The casino brings 100 new job for citizens of the  Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and others from surrounding communities. 
 
"The casino will also support the development of ancillary businesses in the area," says Matt Wesaw, Chairman of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians.
 
The casino has 3,000 square feet of multi-use space and maintains the same look and feel in design and finishes as Four Winds New Buffalo and Four Winds Hartford.
 
The decision to locate in Dowagiac came as it is the home to the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians Tribal Government and many Pokagon Citizens. “We feel that Four Winds Dowagiac is sized accordingly to meet the demand of the local market," says Matt Harkness, General Manager for Four Winds Casinos.

The recognition of Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians Tribe was restored and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in September of 1994. The Tribe’s 10 county service area includes four counties in Southwestern Michigan and six in Northern Indiana. The Pokagon Band provides services including housing, education, family services, medical care and cultural preservation to its approximately 4,500 citizens.
