The 7,500-square-foot Harbor Shores Clubhouse opened to the public April 14, providing The Grille restaurant with seats for 65 and a private dining room for 25 people. An outdoor dining and bar area, known as The Patio, has room for 48.
Local customers, casual diners, golfers and business clientele are all expected to frequent the dining facilities, which also are available for special occasions.
Food service will be available from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. with bar service from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Menus will focus on locally grown and sustainable products and will be supplemented with daily and weekly specials.
In the clubhouse, staff members are prepared to help golfers, locker rooms are equipped with state of the art amenities and a wide selection of merchandise is found in the golf shop. Golf course tee times are from 7:40 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The new facility is at 201 Graham Ave in Benton Harbor. Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce helped organize the April 12 ribbon cutting ceremony. Representatives from Kemper Sports, the City of Benton Harbor, the City of St. Joseph, Benton Charter Township and Harbor Shores Redevelopment as well as local dignitaries were all on hand for the special occasion.
A 4,000-square-foot cart barn storage and a 1,200 square foot state-of-the-art Learning Center with heated bays and V1 swing analysis system also are found on the Harbor Shores development. The First Tee program will continue to grow there and the Benton Harbor and St. Joseph high school golf teams will continue to use the Golf Club at Harbor Shores.
Harbor Shores is a 530-acre mixed use real estate development that will be built over an estimated 20 years with a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design golf course and learning academy.
