Everyone's heard the advice do what you love. Mary Ellen Tainer is doing it.
Tainer knows the kind of clothes she likes. And more than 40 brands of clothing that she has worn in the past will be offered in her new store in Sawyer.
Marmalade Boutique,
5861 Sawyer Road, opened May 1.
The shop features clothing that Tainer describes "styles with a flair of fun yet are contemporary and classic." Styles range from casual to dressy. The boutique also sells handbags, scarves, jewelry and more.
The store is a departure for Tainer who spent 27 years in the Real Estate business in Chicago. She and her husband have been visitors to Harbor Country for more than 30 years. So when she decided to open her store she picked Sawyer.
With no experience as an entrepreneur, Tainer went to the Women’s Business Center at Cornerstone Alliance for advice.
“I didn’t know where to start," Tainer says. "They helped me with writing my business plan; getting my financial resources in order, and everything else that you need to launch your own business.”
Marmalade Boutique is open
11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Thursday through Monday. To learn more visit the Marmalade Boutique Facebook Page
