Generation E Institute plans second annual Startup Fest

It's almost time for the second annual Startup Fest in Battle Creek.

Generation E Institute announces the event will take place Sept. 30 through Oct. 2 at McCamly Plaza Hotel, 50 Capital Ave. SW in downtown Battle Creek.

A wide variety of entrepreneurs and business startups are invited to participate. Participating businesses may be in any industry, including technology, agriculture, food, transportation, service, and manufacturing. Startup Fest is open to any business venture in operation for less than five years. Entrepreneurs must be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by an adult.

Startups must be located in Battle Creek or plan to locate their business in Battle Creek.

Volunteer coaches and mentors are needed to work with the fledgling business ventures throughout the weekend.

During the weekend event, entrepreneurs receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced business professionals who help them define, design and grow their business venture.

Startups also have the opportunity to consult with coaches, who provide knowledge and advice in their field of business expertise. Experts in marketing, legal, product development, financial, and intellectual property are the type of coaches available.

There is a $50 registration fee per individual to participate in the weekend. If more than one representative from a startup attends, each must pay a $50 registration fee. Only the pitch competition is free and open to the public.
