Planet Fitness opens new center in Benton Harbor

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...
The latest fitness club to open its doors in Benton Harbor is Planet Fitness, 1345 Mall Drive, off the I-94 Pipestone exit, across from Lowes, next to Staples.

The Benton Harbor club is the 600th location for the franchise health center.

General manager David Boele says the fitness club is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and at least three employees are available throughout the day. “We will be fully staffed at all times,” Boele says.

Boele says the Planet Fitness philosophy is that the club is a “no judgement zone” for those working out.

Planet Fitness gyms feature a selection of cardio machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. Cardio areas are equipped with big, flat-screen televisions.

The gyms also have two full circuits of strength machines, a PF Express 30-Minute Workout, free weights, tanning booths, massage chairs, and full locker rooms.

Boeles says he is not certain of the exact size of the club, but that it is large.

Planet Fitness offers several payment plans including a $10-a-month membership and a $19.99 plan with various levels of services available at each level.

Planet Fitness is the national gym partner for NBC’s The Biggest Loser. It has 4 million members total in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
