City Guide: Rogers City

Rogers City is located at the very top of the mitten on the shores of Lake Huron. It is home to two large annual salmon fishing tournaments and is also one of the largest shipping ports on the Great Lakes with the world’s largest open-pit limestone quarry (the Port of Calcite) and the world’s largest limestone-processing plant located within the city (which are integral to steel production). Presque Isle County is also a very scenic area filled with plentiful opportunities for outdoor recreation. P.H. Hoeft State Park is located just five miles north of Rogers City and was one of Michigan’s original state parks; there are miles of sandy beaches and hiking trails available. The area also hosts about half a dozen major annual festivals, including the Presque Isle County Fair, Rogers City Nautical Festival, Rogers City Salmon Tournament, Posen Potato Festival, and the Annual Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival.
