Crissman is new executive director of Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay

The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay announced it will have a new executive director as of Nov. 13.

Christine Crissman will replace former director Andy Knott, who moved on to work with the Sierra Club.

Crissman was most recently the director of education and conservation at the Grand Traverse Conservation District, and previously the education director and chief scientist at Inland Seas Education Association. She also has served as a fisheries technician in the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians Natural Resources Department, an adjunct faculty member at Grand Valley State University and Northwestern Michigan College.

"She is well-qualified, known in the area and exhibits a strong commitment to the Watershed Center's mission," says Watershed Center board chair Dick Thompson.

Crissman holds a master's degree in aquatic resource ecology management from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's of science from St. Mary's College.
