Beach Bums name new manager

There's a new field manager calling shots for the Traverse City Beach Bums now that the baseball team has named Dan Rohn to the position.

Last season, Rohn was the bench coach for the team. He was promoted when former manager Gregg Langbehn took a position with the Cleveland Indians.

Rohn is no stranger to baseball, and his ability has been recognizes with three AAA MiLB Manager of the Year honors.

Rohn hails originally from Alpena and played college ball with Central Michigan University. He spent 13 years as a professional baseball player, including three in Major League Baseball.

He began coaching minor league baseball in 1990. He was also an administrative coach for the Seattle Mariners in 2006.

Rohn has been with Traverse City since 2011.
