Northern Michigan Regional Hospital named one of top 25 most connected in country

You always have hope that your regional hospital ends up on a list naming it as one of the best. The patients of Northern Michigan Regional can be rest assured that their hospital is among them.

The Petoskey-based medical facility was recently named a 2010 Top 25 Connected Healthcare Facility by Health Imaging & IT magazine.

The annual list recognizes hospitals, health systems, imaging centers, and physician practices that seamlessly integrate imaging and information technology systems, provide physicians with immediate, anywhere access to patient data, and demonstrate high patient and staff satisfaction.

"We are thrilled," says Reezie DeVet, President of Northern Michigan Regional Health System. "The seamless transfer of data across various platforms is clearly helping to improve patient care and increase productivity across departments. Everyone involved in this effort should be very proud of this achievement."

As a 2010 recipient of the award, Northern Michigan Regional Hospital distinguishes itself by linking patient images with an electronic medical record, as well as provides physicians with remote access to diagnostic images and data. Additionally, like most Top Connected sites, the hospital shares images with a health information exchange.

Northern Michigan Regional Hospital, as well as the other Top Connected winners, shared concrete data about the benefits of imaging and IT connections, as well as demonstrated how it has accelerated and improved patient care with anytime/anywhere access to patient data, virtual sub-specialty interpretation, and razor-thin report turn-around times that hover near 15 minutes for STAT studies.
