So what's better than sitting on the beach with a nice, cool brew in your hand on a hot day? How about sitting on a tall ship like the Manitou and getting yourself some nice, hand-crafted microbrew?
Shorts Brewing Company and the Traverse Tall Ship Company have kicked off a season of Sunday evening microbrew tasting cruises. The events, which run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will run every Sunday through Sept. 4 and costs $50 per person. Space on each trip is limited, however, to just 60 people.
And don't worry about going hungry while you're out on the water--pizza from the popular Crusted Creations will also be served.
"What an awesome beer adventure," says Jon "Woj" Wojtowicz, of Short's Brewery. "I'm really excited about the rest of the summer."
Short's Brewery representatives will be on hand to discuss and share four beer samples, as well as Short's brewing and their focus on the Michigan brewing industry.
No worry if you don't like beer, either--in addition to the microbrew tasting cruises, the Manitou offers Moomers Ice Cream sails on Mondays and Fridays from 3-5 p.m., through Sept. 2; Wine tasting cruises on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m., through Sept. 1; and entertainment cruises on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. through Aug. 31.
