Patients at
Mercy Hospital Cadillac can rest easy knowing that the hospital's employees are some of the most engaged, involved and committed in the health care business.
The hospital recently received a best-in-class award from
HR Solutions, a health care human resources survey company that compares hospital employees' engagement in and commitment to their work. The award means Mercy employees scored in the top 10 percent of the company's database of responses.
Mercy Hospital Cadillac's director of organizational talent and effectiveness, Mike Stebbins, says the high marks in engagement translate to better employee performance.
"Studies show that an engaged workforce results in better performance across an organization," says Stebbins. "This distinction recognizes our culture and the great team we have here at Mercy."
The announcement came just a few weeks after the hospital also was chosen as one of 2010's "most wired" small and rural hospitals in
Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. The ranking came from an annual survey on how information technology is used in hospitals for safety, quality, customer service, business processes, workforce management and even public health work.
Mercy Hospital made the list by being an early adopter of bar-coded medications, electronic medication ordering and other technologies to improve patient care.
